Yup… you already probably know what im going to write about… today, Monday May 10th the world ended for many Twitter users.  For about one hour -

YOU COULDN’T SEE HOW MANY FOLLOWERS / FOLLOWING YOU HAD!!!!!!!!!

I know, Devestating!!!

While many of us had fun and realized that this was a bug, many others decided the world was going to end.  See some of the ‘tweets’ below…

Now I can’t exactly say why this bugs me so much, wait yes I can, this reminds me of PAGERANK!  It doesn’t matter if your website ranks well, converts goals, or makes a million dolla’z as long as you have  PR of 10 it’s all good!    People really need to realize what PageRank is and what it’s really worth.

In comparison people blew the followers/following into way too big of a deal (these posts above are more funny then serious, i didn’t want to give the attention to the true Twitter tards.) It really shouldn’t matter what your followers/following numbers are as long as you get results. Just because you have 10,000 vs 1000 doesn’t mean you will be more successful.  Just like SEO, QUALITY  > QUANTITY rules.  Did anyone actually notice that you were receiving tweets on your timeline?  Last time I checked that was pretty hard to get them without actually following someone..  It should have been fairly obvious that it was a bug and it was already in the process of being fixed.

The point of this rant is that people freak out about some dumb stuff, don’t worry about your pagerank, don’t let your follower number be the end all to your life!  Just enjoy Twitter as a fun community that can have a business benefit if used correctly.

    Ya know, I was going to pull the trigger on TweetAdder since you can auto-tweet someone based on the topic. But then I thought, “Do I really want to be a twitter spammer?”

    I no longer care 1 iota how many followers I have. I do like to, however, chat w/ tweeple in near-real-time through a public forum. That's the allure for me. Anyone can privately email someone but when you force people to publicly state their message to you, that's a whole different conversation.

    I found TweetAdder a great way to get your account terminated for agressive following practices…….

    In their credit tho they did refund me once I'd bitten their head off…

    I've pretty much blocked most of the folks who were following me, too many ass-hats, spammers and link dropping bad seo's on there.

    I find only following who I really need to works for me, I can't stand those who follow because you've followed them, I find it egregious and digitally shallow. As you say, it's about quality and not quantity!
