Opting for the Cheapest SEO Services?

By milwaukeeseo | March 23, 2010

Don’t Bitch About Your Results.

This post is served best as a “double-scoop” on top of Goosh’s Hit & Run Snake Oil Salesmen. And, the opening parlays are much the same:

The Email

Subject: Great Organic Traffic Results, NO COST

(actual email: names have been scrubbed)

I have SEO & link building services company, have team professional and I’ve Big site list where I can put your link on them, all my site different IPs and hosted based from USA. I’m accept services On Page/Off Page with following SERPs optimization, Keyword Optimization, Blog Posting, One Way Links, Blog Commenting, Article Writing, Link Wheel, Forum Posting, Article Submission, Logo/Banner Creation and more

I accept SEO services per keyword, This method is very important to improve SERPs in google, I will make your keyword in the first page in SERPs google, and will not stop until your keyword in the first page I will guarantee within 1-2 months your keywords will be in the first page in SERPs

Price : $100 Weekly /keyword

No Such Thing as a Free Lunch

There is this notion that’s been going around that SEO services ought to be cheap, since, apparently, we SEOs are so damn superfluous and autodidactic (self-taught; for the most part). News flash: all SEOs are NOT CREATED EQUAL.

If you opt in for something like the above, then please know, after your site’s been burned to the ground and sandboxed to the nether regions of the web, you got what you deserved. Period. And, if you were working with a reputable SEO, and dropped them in favor of economic savings, that goes double for you.

If and when a good SEO gets your site, please understand that is nigh impossible to un-fuck the damage a hack job can do to your site. It’ll end up cost you more in the long run to play it on the cheap now.

Look, if you want good help, it costs. It won’t be the most expensive service you get online, but the business community has to grasp the notion that this is no longer just a “fad” and optional. So do yourself a favor and create a filter to junk these emails.

If you want good, reliable, and solid SEO and SEM help, ask people whom you trust who they work with. Nothing will inspire more confidence and trust than a WOM recommendation. And, if you’re the first of your ilk to start SEO services, start reading search marketing blogs and news sites. Not only will this help guard you against the snake oil folks of the world, but you’ll end up with a list of names and firms that have built a trustworthy reputation.

No Bullshit? Then just Share it!

Dude! can I hand this out to every business owner that comes up to me pleading for SEO on the cheap? Or maybe I should just shrink this down and put it on the back of my business card. Seriously.

  • janesvilleseo

Its true that the above email is trash but….

If its 100 per week per keyword. That is not that cheap. 10 keywords would be 1000 per week or 4000 a month.

And just means that you get page 1 or position #10.

Either way, this is garbage, good post

You can tell something’s horribly wrong from the first sentence’s lack of sense making:

“I have SEO & link building services company, have team professional and I’ve Big site list where I can put your link on them, all my site different IPs and hosted based from USA.”

    Nasty…

That deal sounds alright I might sub-contract (pls forward me the details). I love looking at link building bids on 'freelancer' sites…and watching people choose the lowest bid! They often give their site details in the project spec too, so you can monitor the success :)

I used to have seemingly endless sympathy for those who fell victim to an SEO scam. While I still have a certain level of sympathy, the longer I'm in this business the more I see that sympathy morphing into anger toward those ignorant and frugal (read: cheap ass motherfuckers) who plea for help at a discount because they've opted for a “Google Page 1 for $29.95 – GUARANTEED!” deal.

People dumb enough to fall for that bullshit get exactly what they deserve. If there's a small, medium or large business owner out there who reads that spamtastic grammatical nightmare of an e-mail and thinks, “Hey, great deal…I'm in!”, you'll get no sympathy from real SEOs.

Business owners need to take responsibility for their role in being scammed and accept that their incomprehensibly poor decision making is as much to blame for their long term search marketing disasters as the despicable fucktards who send out these e-mails.

    Honestly this is class…
Lol! The balls of the mailer!! But hey, there's nothing to lose over the Internet.
I get these kind of emails ever now and then, I just laugh. Everyone wants to get into the Internet scamming act!

  • jimrudnick

Spot-on, Anthony! I too get the same kind of seo-for-hire emails from people who can't even use English – let alone run SEO campaign link tactics for my clients….sigh. Just too too many of these idiots out there and with no real “barrier of entry” the numbers will continue to grow. Sadly, they actually do find clients too…which we learn about when we get the emergency calls from said clients to help “doctor” their now penalized or just plain poorly performing site!

    ;-)

Thanks for the follow on post Anthony. I see these emails all too-often, particularly from clients asking if there is any truth in them.

I am still a firm believer of “you get what you pay for”.

  • EricWerner

Great points – I agree with Alysson – if the business owner is trying to get something that is going to be worth thousands of dollars or hundreds of thousands of dollars for a hundred bucks then maybe they're a crook too.

The problem is that it anchors that price in their mind. After seeing that it can be done for $100 paying thousands per month must sound insane.

It's bad enough when a spam scammer is doing it.. I was talking to a potential client yesterday and one of the fairly large agencies here in town told him that they could get him to rank for a very competitive phrase by submitting 2 press releases to PR Web…

I get these type of emails on a daily basis. I consult for different orgs and even Corporate companies receive these emails (how do they make it through the spam filter is anyone's guess). You wouldn't believe how some clients actually asked me if this could help and how we should give them a try! Not low level management, but executive management! For some odd reason they believe these guys might know their stuff. I then have to go through the process of de-brainwashing these guys, so they can see the true value of what I am providing in comparison to what these guys will do. So far I've never had a client jump ship to take on one of these pitches, but it's still shocking at how many actually consider it. It just goes to show how universally immature SEO really is.

SEO is a difficult work to do that is the reason for its high cost. there are also cheap services but the quality of work is not as much good that can give you the benefit.

  • http://www.redsauce.com redsauce.com

SEO is expensive and very time consuming, and if you want a good job doing you should expect to pay a lot of money for it.

Building a business is a serious thing whether its on-line or not and your marketing will be a big part of your success so you should either be prepared to invest your own time into learning some of it yourself if you have little money to pay for a descent service and accept the slow progress or if you know your business works and have the funds then invest in getting it done right first time…..but don’t bitch….business isn’t easy….it takes money, time, hard work and a little luck!

SEO can be learned by yourself, basic SEO is ensuring you have the keywords you are hoping to rank for in the title, the description, the meta keywords and advance about by itself in the body, and also ensuring that the backlinks has the keywords in them, it’s adverse that so many peoples are getting scammed by “SEO professionals” if SEO is dynamic, and chances are the “SEO professionals” knew all they know from forums like this.

Yeah, behold the mighty freelancer SEO’s that cant spelll, cant use google adwords correctly, love article spam and breathe link spam. I posted there recently, was that disgusted with the quality of replies, I started telling them what I thought. 3 cried and retracted their bids, 4 never replied back. All a bunch of total fuckwits.
